# Briefcase — full reference for AI assistants ## Overview Briefcase (https://briefcase.hk) is a subscription web application that lets Hong Kong law firms — solicitors, barristers and their staff — find, fill in and download Hong Kong Family Court forms entirely in a web browser. It is an independent, paid productivity tool. It is not a government or Judiciary site, it is not an AI drafting tool, and it does not provide legal advice. ## How it works 1. The user browses or searches the catalogue of Hong Kong court forms by category. 2. They open a form in an in-browser document editor and fill it in inline. 3. On finalising, the completed form downloads as a Word document (.docx). "Save as PDF" uses the browser's own print dialog — there is no server-side PDF rendering. When a practitioner uses the browser editor, the document content stays in their browser; Briefcase records only usage. Step-by-step filling sends answers to the server once to generate a Word document in memory; neither answers nor completed documents are retained. A subscription (or 7-day free access) is required before any form can be filled or downloaded. ## Form coverage 244 fillable forms across seven categories, plus two read-only reference libraries: - Matrimonial Causes / Cap. 179A (Matrimonial Causes Rules): 45 forms. - Draft Orders: 92 (children, financial, property, interim directions, enforcement, domestic violence and foreign-element matters; Matrimonial / Unmarried / Joint Application variants). - Summonses: 78. - Practice Direction forms: 14 (PD 15.9, 15.11, 15.13). - Petitions: 6. - Mediation forms: 5. - Miscellaneous: 4. - Reference: 17 Hong Kong ordinances and 36 guidance notes (PDF, English and Chinese). The draft orders and summonses are original documents drafted by a practising Hong Kong barrister and are not available elsewhere. ## Pricing (HKD, billed annually, per firm) - Pro: HK$6,899 per firm per year — 30 forms per month. - Ultra: HK$12,899 per firm per year — 80 forms per month. - Elite: HK$19,899 per firm per year — 150 forms per month, priority support. Every plan includes clean professional templates (no litigant-in-person guidance). 7 days of free access, no card required, capped at 7 forms. There is no monthly billing and no single-form purchase. ## Languages The interface and form titles are available in English and Traditional Chinese (Hong Kong). Chinese form titles use the official names from Hong Kong e-Legislation (Cap. 179A). ## Mission Make filling Hong Kong Family Court forms faster and less error-prone for the law firms that do it every day, while keeping the official forms intact. ## Technical stack Next.js (App Router) and React, hosted on Vercel at briefcase.hk.
